Procida, the 6 most beautiful beaches on the island

We want to reveal a secret: in Procida the sea is beautiful and, if you come to visit us, you can choose from 6 different beaches, moving from one to the other depending on the light and the wind.

Procida

The island of Procida, easy to get to from Naples, is the lesser known, little sister of nearby Capri and Ischia and although recently the images of the pastel-coloured houses have been seen on tv and the internet because of the allocation of the island as Italian Capital of Culture 2022.

If the best-known image of the island is that of Corricella, together with some scenes from films such as Il Postino or The Talent of Mr. Ripley, not everyone knows its beaches.

We want to reveal a secret: in Procida the sea is beautiful and, if you come to visit us, you can choose from 6 different beaches, moving from one to the other depending on the light and the wind.

Chiaia Beach

The beach of Chiaia is very close to Camp La Caravella and is the one we recommend to all our guests in the morning as it is the first beach to get some shade. In fact, the sun sets on the opposite side of the island. This is one of the most suggestive views of Procida. The bay is enchanting, the water is clear and shallow, and the horizon opens up to the Terra Murata promontory, which forms the backdrop for the colourful little port of Corricella, and further on to Vesuvius. There are plenty of facilities: the La Conchiglia bathing establishment hires out sunbeds and umbrellas and has an excellent fish restaurant with a large terrace overlooking the sea. On the public beach side there is a kiosk selling snacks, drinks and ice creams.

How to get there

Take the short cut from Camp La Caravella, cross Via Pizzaco and you will reach the 186-step (gently sloping) descent that leads directly to the beach. Another access is from Via dei Bagni, starting from Piazza San Giacomo. Here you can go down a ramp with a few final steps to the beach.

La Lingua Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches of Procida is the small but panoramic beach of La Lingua. Located in the Marina of Marina Grande, it is a pebble beach, unlike the other beaches of the island, which are characterised by thick and dark sand. Althought it is very close to the port, it has not lost its naturalistic and somewhat “wild” charm, thanks to the green rocky ridge that surrounds it. The water for swimming is also very clean, a little choppy and of an intense blue due to its depth. La Lingua beach overlooks the canal of Procida, right in front of the Monte di Procida, a passage for the sea traffic coming from the mainland.

How to get there

La Lingua beach can be reached by taking Via Roma, the main street of Marina Grande, to the end. Another way to get to this beach is to go down along the rocky ridge starting from the end of via Bartolomeo Pagano, one of the crossroads that you will find on the left going up to Terra Murata.

Silurenza Beach

Near the harbour of Marina Grande, in via Roma on the Grotte side, there is the beautiful beach of Silurenza, ideal for families with children. There are toilets and a bar-restaurant a few metres from the beach.

How to get there

The beach of Silurenza can be easily reached on foot by going down via Roma, the main street of Marina Grande.

Il Postino Beach

It is certainly one of the most famous beaches of Procida and one of the most visited by tourists. Made famous by Massimo Troisi, who chose it as the setting for some unforgettable scenes in his film, it was renamed Postino Beach after its success. It is situated in a sheltered basin below the town cemetery, shaded in the morning and in full sun in the afternoon.

Like the best beaches of Procida, the water is blue and crystal clear and the sand is black and thick. It is mostly a free beach, but there is also a small bathing establishment which hires out sunbeds and umbrellas and has a colourful kiosk. When the sea is rough, seaweed can appear, but in this case, if you swim away from the shore, you will be immersed in clear, blue water. Admire the contrast between the sea, the beach and the cliffs, the landscape here has the splendid and wild look so typical of the island of Procida.

How to get there

The bay of Pozzo Vecchio or Postino beach can be reached by going down the road that runs alongside the cemetery. It is about 20 minute walk from La Caravella Resort and less then 10 minute walk from Ciraccio Resort. It is also very easy to get there by bus on the C1 line, getting off at the Pozzo Vecchio stop.

Ciraccio Beach

Small and secluded, Ciraccio beach is ideal for those seeking peace and privacy. It is a free beach separated from the wider Chiaiolella beach by two large tuff rocks that have become the symbol of the island.

Ciraccio beach is always sunny, and at sunset you can admire the most evocative sunset of Procida, with the island of Ischia as a backdrop to the thousand golden reflections of the sea.

How to get there

From Camp Ciraccio, turn left, walk the last few metres of Via Salette... and dive into the sea! If you're staying at La Caravella Resort, take the e-bikes and you'll be there in minutes!

Chiaolella Beach

This is Procida's longest beach, bordered by the large stacks that separate it from Ciraccio beach. In the afternoon the mistral often blows, and here too the sun shines all day, plunging into the sea before your very eyes.

Watching the sunset while sipping a cool drink at one of the many kiosks in the area is a moment not to be missed when visiting Procida's most beautiful beaches. In addition to excellent catering services, there are many bathing establishments, making this beach ideal for a family holiday in Procida.

How to get there

Chiaiolella beach is about a 20-minute walk from Camp La Caravella, while from Camp Ciraccio follow the shoreline and after about 200 metres you will reach the stacks separating the two beaches.
